When Jesse Q. Sutanto debuted in 2021 with Dial A for Aunties, it was the off-the-wall dark comedy we all needed. The series starts with Meddy Chan on a date that goes wrong and she ends up with a dead guy in her trunk. Who do you call when you’ve gotten yourself into a bind? Your mom and 3 crazy aunties. But then the body gets transported to the next wedding Meddy’s family is coordinating. It’s the Weekend at Bernie’s-esque story you didn’t know you needed.

The Good, The Bad, and the Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto

So three years later, we’re about to say goodbye to Meddy and her Aunties, but they wouldn’t be the Chans without one last chaotic adventure. The Good, the Bad, and the Aunties starts at a huge Chinese New Year party in Jakarta. Second Aunt is reunited with an old flame, who just might in business with a crime lord. Meddy and her aunties find themselves having to recover a payment that was accidentally gifted out in red envelopes. What could go wrong?

The humor in this series is totally over-the-top and It doesn’t hit with every reader, but it sure does with me. It’s bonkers and ridiculous and I’m gonna miss Meddy and her crazy family. I’ll just imagine them karaoke-ing a Boyz II Men medley. Or maybe that’s me karaoke-ing. LOL.

“How do I say goodbye to what we had? The good times that made us laugh outweigh the bad. I thought we’d get to see forever, but forever’s gone away. It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday….Although we’ve come…to the end of the road…still i can’t let go…it’s so natural, you belong to me, i belong to you….”
