We Tried Trader Joe’s Coffee and Dark Chocolate Joe-Joe’s

When we first heard about Trader Joe’s Coffee and Dark Chocolate Joe-Joe’s last week, I wondered out loud if they could possibly be even better than the peanut butter version. Welp, here’s the verdict. No, they’re not.

Now look, don’t get me wrong, these are perfectly tasty, but when we’re talking about 6g of fat per cookie, you gotta decide if they’re worth it. Chocolate is the dominant flavor here, with very light coffee flavor in the creme filling. The drizzle might also be coffee flavored technically, but flavor-wise, it didn’t make much difference to me. The cookie parts seem extra crisp/crunchy, which was the best part for me. The creme is on the soft side, not really peel-able like the thicker, more solid filling in a standard Oreo.

Now, if you remember….Trader Joe’s had Mocha Joe-Joe’s back in 2017 (plus a bunch of other coffee flavored items). I said those were light on coffee flavor, too. So while I think I like the new iteration is better than those, I still want more of a coffee or espresso punch!

Would I buy Trader Joe’s Coffee and Dark Chocolate Joe-Joe’s again? I don’t think so. Like I said, I like the peanut butter chocolate ones better. Though I wouldn’t mind if Trader Joe’s just sold a box of the chocolate cookies plain by themselves. They’d be great for snacking or chocolate cookie crusts for pie.
