We Tried Trader Joe’s Hold the Dairy Mini Cones

It looks like Trader Joe’s is in the business of making dreams come true with their Hold the Dairy Mini Cones. Because while they will make vegans happy, they’re also gonna make a lot of people who just can’t do dairy happy, too.

I think we all laughed a little when the serving size in the nutrition facts showed up as 6 cones. I usually try to limit myself to two, but hey, no judgment here.

One of the things I loved about this new version of Trader Joe’s Hold the Cones dessert is the packaging! I always have a little bit of guilt about that plastic insert in the Hold the Cones. I mean, the less single-use plastic in our lives, the better. TJ’s (or its supplier) is solving some of the problem by individually wrapping these little cones in paper lined foil.

While they don’t stay as pretty as the dipped Hold the Cones, they’re plenty tasty. The chocolate ice cream seems to have a little bit of a nutty taste on first bite, I don’t know if that’s the sunflower lecithin or what. But these are very good. We’re fine with animal dairy, so I doubt they’ll replace the chocolate Hold the Cones around here, but I’d have no problem grabbing a box again.
