OMG: Trader Joe’s Mini Chocolate Mousse Desserts

If I was going to put together my Top 5 list for TJ’s this year, Trader Joe’s Mini Chocolate Mousse Desserts would definitely be on there. Maybe even top three. I think the last time I said “Run, don’t walk,” it was for the Mini Cream Puffs. But these are even better.

First things first — you have to thaw them in the fridge for 2 hours. I discovered that too late in the day (it gets dark early now), so these ended up staying in the fridge overnight.

As a result, the shortbread crust is on the softer side (I don’t know if it’s that way after only two hours or not, obviously). But that’s fine. If you like chocolate mousse, but a regular serving gets to be too much, these mini mousses are two bites of chocolate mousse perfection. But since there’s only six in a box and they’re tiny, you probably wanna grab two boxes.

Six Trader Joe's mini chocolate mousse desserts unboxed, in their plastic tray on a weathered gray wood background.

There is kind of a lot of packaging here, they come in a plastic tray with a lid and each one is wrapped in a little bit of acetate, but they kind of have to be. Otherwise they’d be squishing in the box. The tray should give you enough clearance, but obviously don’t stack anything on top of the box when you’re thawing them.

If dessert usually ends up being kind of an afterthought for your Christmas Eve/ Christmas/ New Year’s Eve get together, these would be great to have on hand. Will I buy Trader Joe’s Mini Chocolate Mousse Desserts again? Oh yeah, I’m picking up another box on my next TJ’s run.
