4 New Releases in Romance to Close Out 2019

New Titles From Kate Clayborn, Tracey Livesay, Roni Loren, and Joanna Shupe Hit Shelves This Week

This is the last release week before we can slam the door on 2019. And with what romance authors have been going through this last week? It’s the understatement of the year to say it’s been rough. Authors with new releases are in the uncomfortable position of promoting their latest titles when it just feels like bad timing. But if you’re a reader, the year is going out with a bang. I’ve got two 5-star new releases for you and two more to add to your TBR.

LOVE LETTERING BY KATE CLAYBORN

Release Date: December 31, 2019

love lettering by kate clayborn

One of my top reads of 2019! LOVE LETTERING delivers next-level nerdery around planners and lettering with a good dose of romance, supportive lady friendships, and staying true to your art. Kate Clayborn uses everything we think we know about left brain/right brain people, creative v. analytical, to show that opposites don’t just attract, they really fit together.

Meg, an in-demand lettering artist, created all the stationery for Reid and Avery’s wedding and she worked a code, a pattern, a secret message into the wedding program, thinking no one one would notice. But someone did. And he’s showed up at the shop a year later to ask about it. It’s the beginning of something neither of them could have anticipated.

Reid and Meg (Meg especially) are emotionally intelligent, communicative and just good people trying to figure out life. (No one’s going to be able to say, you could figure this all out, if you would just talk!). Bonus points for no women being villainized in this book.

Love Lettering is clever, funny, and damn sexy. A 2020 must read FOR. SURE.

THE ONE FOR YOU by RONI LOREN

Release Date: December 31, 2019

THE ONE FOR YOU caps a series that navigates the aftermath of a school shooting with grace, sensitivity and hope.

Fourteen years ago, a group of friends survived a prom night school shooting and vowed to make the most of their lives.

In high school, Kincaid and Ash were each other’s port in the storm. He came from a home where domestic abuse was a regular occurrence, she dealt with the fallout of her mom being regarded the town hussy. But they were just buddies, well, that’s what Kincaid thought anyway. Then the shooting happened.

Now, Ash is a thriller writer, and he’s back in town to focus on his next book. Being thrown back together rekindles old feelings, and for the first time Kincaid notices that the last 14 years have done her bookish friend some good. Man, Roni Loren knows how to write a hot nerd. This is the “my high school friend got hot” trope done deliciously. In true Roni Loren fashion, it is sexy and romantic and gah, it’s a must read.

The friendship among Liv, Rebecca, Tasha and Kincaid is a cornerstone of this series and it shines in The One For You. These women have turned tragedy into rock solid friendships that will last them the rest of their lives. It’s a reminder HEAs don’t just come from romantic relationships, it also lives in the people who’ve got your back and support you through thick and thin.

THE PRINCE OF BROADWAY by JOANNA SHUPE

Release Date: December 30, 2019

I tried like heck to get my hands on THE PRINCE OF BROADWAY ahead of release, but no dice. So I’ll be stalking my UPS delivery person today, awaiting its arrival. Kirkus gave it a starred review, and here’s what we know so far:

The second book in Joanna Shupe’s Uptown Girls series, is set in Gilded Age New York, where casino owner Clayton Madden is determined to take down one of the city’s most prominent families. But then Florence Greene comes calling, looking for a mentor, so she can open her own casino — for women. Clayton agrees, though it might upend his own plans, and both Clayton and Florence end up with more than they bargained for.

Tracey Livesay’s first novel in her Girls Trip series follows beauty marketing manager Caila Harris as she’s passed over to run a major cosmetics line launch. Instead she’s being sent to a small Southern town to shut down a factory.

But Bradleton isn’t about to lose its biggest employer if Mayor Wyatt Bradley has anything to say about it. And he’s not above using every trick in the book to convince Caila to keep the plant open. But what neither of these two stubborn, driven people were expecting was to fall into an affair. Will it be more?
