Homemade Cheese Crackers

DIY Cheez-Its Are Perfect Reading Snacks…or For Holiday Parties

In Sarina Bowen’s new novel, MOONLIGHTER, pro hockey player Eric Bayer spends his off-season moonlighting at his family’s security firm, The Company. He bodyguards a CEO and childhood friend on a trip to a conference in Hawaii. Once there, they discover there’s just one bed in her suite at the hotel. Sexy shenanigans ensue. It’s out today. I loved it. You can check out my 4-star review here.

But we’re here to talk about homemade cheese crackers. At one point in the book, Bayer visits his dad and brother at a social club and orders warm cheddar crackers and a ginger ale. It’s a minor detail, but the first thing I thought was, well, I certainly wouldn’t kick Bayer out of bed for eating crackers. LOL.

Of course, you could just buy a box of Cheez-Its, but if you want to replicate what they might serve in a fancy-pants social club, they’re not heating up Cheez-Its, know what I mean?

If you’ve never tried making your own cheese crackers at home, they’re dead simple. Just a mix of cheddar cheese, butter, flour, water, and salt. They’re best the day they’re made and still pretty good a day later.

In addition to being a great accompaniment to MOONLIGHTER, these crackers are a must make for holiday get togethers.
