We Tried Trader Joe’s Guava Tartelette Cookies

As a guava fan, I am loving that Trader Joe’s is in its Guava era. But with hits like the Guava Fruit Spread, there have to be some misses. And for me, the Guava Tartelette is a miss. I mean, they’re not bad, but they could be better.

On the plus side, they’re individually wrapped (nine to a box), so you can throw them into a lunch box or your purse, and you don’t have to worry about them going stale if you eat one and then kind of forget about them.

But here’s the thing for me, I’m not a huge fan of the cookie texture. It’s kind of between a pie crust/jam tart and a cookie. It’s neither really flaky or sandy like a shortbread. You could almost mistake it for actually being stale. The jam is fine, sort of similar to the filling for a Fig Newton, where it’s a little drier than a dollop of jam.

A friend mentioned something was off with the jam to cookie ratio for her. I could have used a little more even! So, my advice? Grab a box of the French Butter Galette Cookies and a jar of the guava fruit spread and DIY it yourself. Might be good with a little cream cheese, too, if you wanna go over the top.

Will I buy Trader Joe’s Guava Tartelette cookies again? Nah.
