It’s a light week for What’s New at Trader Joe’s. But at long last, the Hold the Dairy Salted Caramel mini cones landed! I liked the original chocolate version a lot, so I have high hopes for these. The Salted Caramel ice cream is rice beverage-based (versus coconut in the chocolate version). And interestingly, they’re product of Italy. I’ll report back soon.
Trader Joe’s discontinued their old Mango Chutney about a year ago (I think). I only ever bought it once when I couldn’t find it at my local Indian market. This Sri Lankan version has a pretty straight forward ingredient list: Mango, sugar, garlic, coconut sap vinegar, chili powder, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, nutmeg, and salt. It’s mainly a condiment, but could be a good add to a marinade or thinned a bit for a dip for TJ’s chicken tikka samosas.
Trader Joe’s Old Fashioned pre-mixed cocktail is a returning item (21+ obviously). Only one of my locals carries hard alcohol and only carried the Bulleit premade old fashioned for quite awhile. Not sure if it’s the same formulation, but it got generally decent reviews on Reddit a few years ago.
