So far I’m pretty impressed with Trader Joe’s new fall items. Of course everyone looks forward to the return of their favorites, but I’m most interested in the new-new. The Spicy Pumpkin Curry Simmer Sauce was a hit at our house. And Trader Joe’s Spicy Pumpkin Samosas got a thumbs up, too.
They’re baked in the oven at 400 for 14-16 minutes, turning them over half way through. I don’t have an air fryer, so I can’t say how they’d do, but I’m assuming just fine.
We get the chicken version once in awhile and usually eat them without any dipping sauce. But these, stuffed with paneer and pumpkin, seemed like they needed a little something. I tried TJ’s tomato jelly/spread, not quite right. (I still don’t know what to do with it, other than put it on a cheese board).
So instead, I mixed up a little Greek yogurt, tamarind concentrate, and honey. But I know not everyone has the tamarind around. The truth is, you could just drizzle a little honey over them. It’s pretty good!
Spice-wise, Trader Joe’s Spicy Pumpkin Samosas have a nice kick. It’s not too overwhelming, even if you eat the whole box yourself. I managed to leave 3 behind. I’m hoping these will stick around past the fall, but I’m betting they’re gonna be a limited time offer.
And if you’re wondering about the Pumpkin Empanadas, one of this fall’s other new items, we’ll have that review soon. In the meantime, check out some of our other We Tried’s from Trader Joe’s:
