WHOA. I know everyone is champing at the bit for Pumpkin (Maple/Butterbut) Palooza to hit full force at Trader Joe’s….but hit pause for just a second and don’t skip Trader Joe’s Very Chocolatey Non-Dairy Oat Dessert. When it says it is VERY CHOCOLATEY, it’s not lying. So chocolatey I don’t think it even needs those fudge brownie chunks!

This oat-based non-dairy dessert Is gooooooood. So good, I hope they use this base for the Non-Dairy fudgeicles next year, because it will take them up a notch. I already loved them, but I’d love them even more if they went very chocolatey. Great texture and mouthfeel, not overly sweet (my usual complaint about TJ’s ice creams).

BUT. And there’s always a but, right? On the nutrition facts, they’re calling a serving 2/3 cup, which seems generous, given how rich it is. It’s got 9 g of saturated fat (out of 11 g total) per serving which feels high to me. The ingredient list does include palm oil and coconut oil. So, i guess, do what’s right for you. Maybe just have a 1/3 cup serving.
