When it comes to guacamole, I’m more of a classic gal. I like it on the chunkier side with onion, garlic, and lime. So I went in expecting Trader Joe’s Spicy Mango Habanero Guacamole to be too sweet. You know how Trader Joe’s can be. But it’s not. It’s got a nice fruitiness to it that’s offset by the jalapeño and habanero kick. I’d call it medium spicy, so if you’re spice-sensitive or have littles, it might not be for you. For the most part, it’s also extremely smooth, but for the tiny bits of mango. You could easily thin it into a green sauce to drizzle over tacos, or even as a salad dressing. I think it’d be a great add to a vegetarian burrito. Could also be a good dip for the Empanadas de Ropa Vieja.

It holds up pretty well in the fridge. I cut around the plastic with a knife and saved it to put back in the fridge, rather than just relying on the lid. And two days later it was still in pretty good shape, not much browning. Unlike Trader Joe’s avocado mash, which browned up fast. White vinegar is the acid on the ingredient list, so if you’re serving this to guests, I might hit it with a little fresh lime to zhuzh it up.

Is it a buy again? If I was having a party, I might grab it just to have something a little different. But as a day-to-day purchase, eh, I don’t know. Like I said, I’m kind of a classic guacamole gal.
