If you make kalua pork on the regular, I don’t think you’ll be particularly impressed with Trader Joe’s Kalua Pork Spring Rolls. I mean, they’re fine. Not great, not bad, just…fine. The air fryer crisps them up really well…but mostly they made me wish Trader Joe’s would go back to carrying standard spring rolls.

So crispy shell, though you can see some of them suffer in transit. Glass noodles and a little veg are mixed in with the pork. And it has just a hint of the smokiness, but not much of the saltiness you expect with kalua pork (despite the high sodium). But I gotta tell ya, the minute you dip them into sweet chili sauce, they could be any old spring roll. And for $4.49 for a box of 4 spring rolls, it actually seems pricey for what it is.

The funny thing is, if someone’s mom made these from scratch and had them at a party, they’d probably be good. But Trader Joe’s Kalua Pork Spring Rolls won’t be a repeat buy for me.
