On the latest episode of its Inside Trader Joe’s podcast, TJ’s spotlighted 12 new and upcoming items perfect for summer barbecues.
Beef Burger Patties — 1/3 lb. patties made from a blend of chuck, brisket, and picanha (or sirloin cap). Four patties to a package for $9.99. Their vendor is forming these patties delicately rather than simply stamping them out, so it sounds like they could almost work like a smash burger. TJ’s also expects to have potato buns to go with.
Caramelized Onion and Bell Pepper Turkey Burger Patties — If you’re not doing red meat, TJ’s also has caramelized onion and bell pepper turkey burgers in stores now. These sound like a prime candidate for sprinkling with creole seasoning to give that turkey a little more personality.
Need a side salad? TJ’s will rotate in new chopped salad kits to keep its offerings fresh through the summer and into the fall.
Trader Joe’s Peanut and Crispy Noodle Salad Kit (in stores now) features cabbage, carrots, romaine, celery, and green onion, with a peanut lime dressing.
Sweet Chili Mango Salad Kit (coming in August) — You’re getting a mix of broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage, sunflower kernels, toasted quinoa, Brussels sprouts, radicchio, and dried mango. The dressing is “reminiscent of a Thai sweet chili sauce” according to the podcast. In the fall, estimated to be late November, look for a Miso Crunch Salad Kit.
How About Dessert? Coffee mochi ice cream is on its way. (Finally!) Sounds like it’s going to be a limited item.
