As someone who’s mostly moved to flavored sparkling water over the last year, sodas are kind of a treat for me. I didn’t think my tastebuds had changed that much, I mean I can still drink a Diet Coke no problem. BUT OH MY GAWD, Trader Joe’s Prebiotic Sodas are so sweet, it almost defies description. They come in Cherry Cola and Strawberry Vanilla flavors, clocking in with 5g and 4g of sugar, respectively. I thought it’d be fine.

Now, the selling point for prebiotic soda is the fiber they’re bringing to the party. In this case, it’s 5g of fiber per can. And I’ve had a Poppi soda before and found it pretty sweet, but it wasn’t like this. It only took ONE sip for me to realize TJ’s versions are not for me. No exaggeration. One. There’s no way I could slug this down in the name of 5g of fiber. The Cherry Cola also has a weird cinnamon aftertaste that had my face scrunching up, like nah.

Needless to say, these won’t be a buy again for me.

In other Trader Joe’s news:
Voting is now open for Trader Joe’s 17th Annual Customer Choice Awards. Voting closes on Friday, January 9th at 9 a.m. PT. I definitely had a tougher time picking faves this year.
My local is breaking up the pasta sauce gift sets and selling jars individually for $3.49. I picked up the Datterino Cherry Tomato Roasted Garlic Pasta Sauce. It’s relatively pricey for 10.23 oz. jar, but I’ll report back soon. The 3 pack gift set sold for $9.99.
Kaamte, a Gouda style cheese I loved a couple years ago, showed up in my store today. I thought I was done with cheese and crackers after the holidays, but I made an exception.
