Garlic and Asiago was a dip I could I pass up. But when I saw Hatch Chile & Jalapeño Cheese, Trader Joe's was speakin' my language. It's $4.99 for a 10 oz. package. And it's just heat and eat. My store suggested crackers on the shelf tag (for reals?!). They'd be fine, but for me,…
Although I've been to Greece, I can't say we had a 3 cheese spread with roasted red peppers while we were there. So I don't have anything to compare Trader Joe's Tirokafteri to, but I can tell you, TJ's version wasn't spicy (for me). Feta is just one of the cheeses in the mix, so…
Trader Joe's Vegan Ranch Dip was pretty good. But I couldn't get past the fact you could still taste that it was made with a coconut cream base. But with this new Trader Joe's Vegan Tzatziki Dip, I think they've got a winner on their hands for vegan and non-vegan eaters. Seriously.
With…
Is there anything you can't do with Trader Joe's Everything But the Bagel sprinkle? One of TJ's top products in 2018, it was named "Favorite Condiment" by shoppers. Now, Trader Joe's latest application for the seasoning blend is to mix it into a Greek style yogurt dip. ($3.49 for an 8 oz. container).

During Hatch Chile season, it's the fresh chiles that get everyone all excited. There's nothing quite like the smell of chiles roasting on a warm summer day. But while green chile powder has probably been available in New Mexico and Colorado for ages, I got my hands on some for the first time, courtesy of…
Wolf was down in California finishing off Triathalon season over the weekend and I was back at the ranch prepping for the long week ahead. Food-wise, it was a hodge-podge, though I did cook Friday night after living off of enchilada casserole all week. It felt good to get back in the kitchen on Saturday morning and do something that didn't involve sitting in front of a computer. Kneading dough for pita bread and running some errands did me some good. But then that pita really needed something to go along with. Hummus? Mmm, ok, but maybe something else?
We’re in the dog days of summer, finally. Days so hot all you want to do is sit in front of an oscillating fan and sip a cool glass of iced tea. Days so hot nothing is getting cooked, except you in your car on the commute home. I’ve got something for you. It’s cool, crisp and refreshing. It’s….a sandwich. Well, a dip and a sandwich. Break out the food processor, we’re making edamame hummus, which you can do as dip for dinner with veg and pita chips, or as a great spread on sandwiches for the “Damn, could it get any hotter?” nights ahead.
Happy New Year, folks! I'm not much for new year's resolutions, but coming off two weeks of insane indulgence, it's time to get back on the wagon. I won't be vowing to hit the gym only to poop out by the end of January, but I will be trying to eat more vegetables and get more whole grains into my diet.
So let's start off the year with this gorgeous muhammara dip, shall we? Using a base of roasted red peppers, it makes for a pretty healthy snack with pita chips or carrot sticks and offers a nice alternative to hummus. It's fantastic alongside tzatziki for grilled chicken or lamb kebabs, too.
Chiles roasting over an open flame is one of those scents that's a harbinger of good things to come. Like garlic and onions cooking on the stove, like banana bread baking in the oven. If there's one smell I don't mind filling the house in the summer, it's roasting chiles. When you've swapped 9 months…
