So I picked up a bag of Trader Joe&#8217;s rice cakes a couple of weeks ago. I made the <a href=\"https:\/\/thewoksoflife.com\/stir-fried-sticky-rice-cakes-nian-gao\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nian Gao from The Woks of Life<\/a>, adding a red bell pepper because I always want more veg in my stir-fries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"740\" height=\"987\" src=\"https:\/\/dailywaffle.com\/stage1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Nian-Gao-with-Trader-Joes-Rice-Cakes.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload_inited wp-image-23010\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailywaffle.com\/stage1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Nian-Gao-with-Trader-Joes-Rice-Cakes.jpg 740w, https:\/\/dailywaffle.com\/stage1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Nian-Gao-with-Trader-Joes-Rice-Cakes-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/dailywaffle.com\/stage1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Nian-Gao-with-Trader-Joes-Rice-Cakes-450x600.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:clamp(14px, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.412), 18px);px\">What&#8217;s great about <a href=\"https:\/\/thewoksoflife.com\/stir-fried-sticky-rice-cakes-nian-gao\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Woks of Life recipe<\/a> is that it&#8217;s a one-pan (well, wok) deal. It&#8217;s a pork stir-fry, but you could definitely sub in chicken or super firm tofu. I like the technique of the making a bed of vegetables, adding the rice cakes on top with some mushroom-soaking water to steam. I also added a couple teaspoons of <a href=\"https:\/\/usa.lkk.com\/en\/products\/sichuan-style-broad-bean-sauce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sichuan broad bean sauce<\/a> (douban jiang).
