I usually think of Kindle Unlimited (KU) <\/a>as a great way to get your hands on an endless number of fiction reads. And while mega bestsellers like the Handmaid’s Tale and the Harry Potter series are available on KU, as part of its $9.99 \/ month fee, cookbooks have never been a real draw for it. So I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered these five cookbooks on Kindle Unlimited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We cooked from David Tanis’ Market Cooking over the summer as part of the #RainyDayBitesCookbook Club. Of course, summer is the easiest time to use simple, delicious produce. The corn griddle cakes<\/a> were fabulous, but with summer behind us, I’m looking forward to making the sake-steamed kabocha with miso and the glazed shiitake mushrooms with bok choy and sesame. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If holiday cookie baking is on your to-do list, Dorie’s Cookies<\/a> will give you some new options. People rave about the World Peace Cookies<\/a> pictured on the cover, and the preserve-filled jammers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Josh McFadden’s Six Seasons<\/a> is one of my very favorite cookbooks and one I come back to again and again. Just this week, I made both the Lamb Ragu with Green Garlic and Carrots<\/a> and the Pumpkin Bolognese<\/a>. This fall, I’m looking forward to the Brussels Sprouts with Pickled Carrots, Walnuts, Cilantro and Citrus Vinaigrette and the Delicata Squash “Donuts” with Pumpkin Seeds and Honey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I often flip through Small Victories<\/a> when I need inspiration. What’s sounding good now is Radicchio Slaw with Warm Bacon Dressing, All Day Pork Shoulder with Apple Cider, Shaved Carrot + Avocado Salad with Tahini, and the Roasted Hazelnut Milk with Cinnamon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Something of a love letter to the foods of his childhood in Appalachia and later his hometown, Charleston, Heritage <\/a>presents a mix of home cooking and restaurant fare with recipes including Hoppin’ John, Slow-Cooked Pork Shoulder with Tomato Gravy and Satsuma Orange and Burnt Honey Marmalade. The dessert section is especially enticing with Chocolate Chess Pie and Sweet Potato Doughnuts with Bourbon Caramel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
