She writes, \u201c[T]his book takes the virtues of fried rice \u2014 fast, cheap, customizable \u2014 and runs with it, using it as a blank slate for a whole world of flavors.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With 50 ways to rethink fried rice, Centoni takes on the Asian-inspired dishes you might expect, but also guides the home cook through Indian, African and Middle Eastern takes on fried rice. In some cases, you\u2019ll be making coconut or tomato rice in advance. It\u2019s what makes this book such a win for me. In Fried Rice, she goes all in on herbs and spices, and several recipes feature additional garnishes and sauces or oils. Don\u2019t let that scare you off, none of them are particularly time consuming or complicated. They\u2019re small touches that make the final dishes stand out.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, in her Fried Rice with Halloumi, Pickled Onions and Zhug, you\u2019re gonna make the onions and the zhug. It was one of our clear favorites, demolished in a day or two. It\u2019s a one-pan, weeknight wonder. Turkey is usually pretty nondescript, but like I said, Centoni doesn\u2019t skimp on flavor. The meat is liberally spiced and while it may be tempting to dial it down, or omit ingredients, you\u2019re only doing yourself a disservice. The feta brings a briny note, while mint and cilantro add a bright freshness.&nbsp;I&#8217;ve made it twice in the time I&#8217;ve had the book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img src=\"https:\/\/dailywaffle.com\/stage1\/wp-content\/plugins\/trx_addons\/components\/lazy-load\/images\/placeholder.png\" data-trx-lazyload-height style=\"height: 0; padding-top: 133.27586206897%;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-trx-lazyload-src=\"https:\/\/dailywaffle.com\/stage1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Taco-Salad-Fried-Rice_FRIED-RICE.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18381\" width=\"580\" height=\"773\"   \/><figcaption>Taco Salad Fried Rice from Danielle Centoni&#8217;s Fried Rice<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Americas section, I opted for another familiar one: Taco Salad Fried Rice. It&#8217;s 80s nostalgia meets burrito bowl meets fried rice. Taking a cue from elsewhere in the book, I swapped in cauliflower rice for basmati. Again, what stands out is that the amount of spices that goes into the meat. Don\u2019t be tempted to grab a seasoning packet. Hit the bulk spices in your supermarket and do it up right.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img src=\"https:\/\/dailywaffle.com\/stage1\/wp-content\/plugins\/trx_addons\/components\/lazy-load\/images\/placeholder.png\" data-trx-lazyload-height style=\"height: 0; padding-top: 133.37837837838%;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"740\" height=\"987\" data-trx-lazyload-src=\"https:\/\/dailywaffle.com\/stage1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Burmese-Fried-Rice-with-Chicken-Herbs-and-Crispy-Shallots_FRIED-RICE-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18387\"   \/><figcaption>Burmese Fried Rice with Chicken, Herbs and Crispy Shallots<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve just scratched the surface with Fried Rice, but this one&#8217;s a win for us.
