SUPERFAN<\/a>, Sarina Bowen’s hotly anticipated next novel set in the Brooklyn Bruisers world, is set to release on June 25. We’ve got the cover reveal and a first look at an excerpt from Silas and Delilah’s story. From the glimpses we’ve gotten in past Bruisers books, I never imagined Silas in a hipster beanie, but I’ll go with it!<\/p>\n

Synopsis:<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Three years ago I met the most amazing woman. We were both down on our luck. Then I got <\/span>that<\/span><\/i> call\u2014the one that tells you to get your buns on a plane to go meet your destiny.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the girl was left behind. I didn\u2019t have her phone number, and she didn\u2019t know my real name.<\/span><\/p>\n

While I became a professional hockey player, she became a superstar, with platinum records and legions of fans. And a slick, music producer boyfriend who treated her badly.<\/span><\/p>\n

But fate wasn\u2019t done with us yet. When Delilah turns up at a hockey game, I can\u2019t resist making contact. The internet swoons when I ask her out on a date.<\/span><\/p>\n

She might not remember me. But her jerkface ex does. He\u2019ll do anything to keep us apart.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWould you like a beer?\u201d the cute bartender asks me.<\/span><\/p>\n

I glance at the pile of mint leaves on his cutting board and hesitate. \u201cSure,\u201d I say. But the mint looks so fresh and pretty.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI could make you something different.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBeer is great. A cold\u2026\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c\u2014lager,\u201d he finishes. \u201cNo glass, no opener.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

When I look up to flash him a smile, my heart does a little somersault. Those kind eyes are smiling at me, too. \u201cThank you,\u201d I whisper. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really no problem.\u201d He turns toward the beer cooler. \u201cYou\u2019re an easy customer, trust me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But I really meant\u2014<\/span>thank you for remembering<\/span><\/i>. As he leans down to grab a bottle for me, I find myself admiring the strong muscles in his back. <\/span>Stop it<\/span><\/i>, I admonish myself. It only gets worse when he turns around and places the bottle in front of me. I\u2019ve never seen hands like his. I didn\u2019t even know wrists could look muscular. <\/span><\/p>\n

Even so. Ogling him is not why I came here. I pull out my keychain opener and remove the cap from my beer. <\/span><\/p>\n

He discards it, gives me another pleasant smile and then picks up his paring knife again.<\/span><\/p>\n

I take a sip, wondering when he\u2019s going to mention my show at the Coconut Club. He was there. I saw him.<\/span><\/p>\n

He separates some mint leaves from their stems and says nothing.<\/span><\/p>\n

I last about seventeen seconds. \u201cWell?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWell?\u201d He looks up. \u201cSorry?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cJesus lord.\u201d I close my eyes and then open them again. This is not going how I\u2019d hoped it would. \u201cWhat did you <\/span>think?<\/span><\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOf\u2026?\u201d His amazing eyes are studying me.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cForget I asked.\u201d I take a swig of beer.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThink about what?\u201d He pushes the cutting board aside, and his smile turns knowing.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy set at the Coconut Club! I saw you holding up that wall in the back. Don\u2019t lie.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He tips his head back and lets out a sudden laugh. \u201cI\u2019m so busted. I loved your show, but I didn\u2019t expect you to spot me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou loved it so much you weren\u2019t going to say anything?\u201d The sentence sounds crazy to my own ears. I put down the beer. \u201cYou know what? Never mind. I\u2019m just being psycho right now. This town is getting into my head.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cListen, girly.\u201d He braces both (muscular!) hands on the bar and looks me right in the eye. \u201cI loved it so much that I don\u2019t even know what to say about it. From that moment at the beginning\u2014when you shut that asshole\u2019s maw? To the part where you made a lady <\/span>cry<\/span><\/i>.\u201d He shakes his head. \u201cI couldn\u2019t look away. And I never wanted it to end.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

I give him a slow blink, just trying to take that in. It\u2019s so much more than I was even hoping to hear.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cShit, Delilah. If that set doesn\u2019t win you whatever contract you\u2019re looking for, they don\u2019t even deserve you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Something warm and unfamiliar settles into the center of my belly. \u201cThat might be the nicest thing anyone ever said to me. Which only means you\u2019re still trying to get my phone number.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He laughs immediately. \u201cCan\u2019t both things be true? Both my musical assessment and my interest in your evening plans?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBecause you know so much about music.\u201d I flip my hair and take another sip of beer.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLook. I don\u2019t know shit about music. But I know plenty about talent.\u201d He leans down on a set of forearms I shouldn\u2019t be noticing. \u201cI know that talent sometimes takes a nap at just the wrong moment, but it never stays asleep for long. I also know that luck matters, too. If they don\u2019t give you what you want, it won\u2019t be your fucking fault.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThank you,\u201d I say quietly.<\/span><\/p>\n

But he\u2019s not done. \u201cI saw something else valuable the other night. You\u2019re good in the clinch. And that counts for double, I swear to God.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe clinch?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYeah. You\u2019re not just good at practice.\u201d He pauses, wrinkling up his interesting nose. \u201cWhat word would a musician use? Okay\u2014you\u2019re not a <\/span>rehearsal<\/span><\/i> musician. That stage was like your home. Either that or you fake it really well. That\u2019s going to pay your rent someday, I promise.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWow.\u201d It\u2019s like he looked right into my terrified little soul and found the very thing I needed to hear. Those beautiful eyes of his are practically burning me right now, so I have to look away. \u201cThank you. Really. I really needed that pep talk.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

I make the mistake of looking up at him again, and, for a split second, I see pure yearning. It\u2019s like our souls vibrate at exactly the same frequency. And I have no idea what to do with that.<\/span><\/p>\n
