I can\u2019t say I know exactly where this one came from.\u00a0 Was it a craving for island breezes and sunshine? Or just a passing thought about the pepperoni and jalape\u00f1o\u00a0from Pizza Port? Maybe both.\u00a0 This week\u2019s slice is a vegetarian pizza I\u2019m calling a Pineape\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->\u00a0Sometimes putting together a pizza is a little like a puzzle. You take the dough from one place, the toppings from another and you end up with a complete picture of deliciousness. <a title=\"Damn Near Perfect Whole Wheat Pizza\" href=\"https:\/\/dailywaffle.com\/stage1\/2013\/06\/24\/damn-near-perfect-whole-wheat-pizza\/\">This week&#8217;s dough was half whole wheat<\/a> with some bread flour milled in Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>While I\u2019ve never really been big on pineapple on pizza, the sweetness is a perfect foil for the kick of jalape\u00f1os. There are no competing sauces \u2013 the backdrop is a schmear of ricotta cheese and a handful of grated mozzarella to help carry the flavors forward.<\/p>\n<p>Once you break out the BBQ, throw on a few slices of fresh pineapple and grill until there\u2019s just a hint of char and add them to a par-baked\/par-grilled flatbread.
