We Tried Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Yellow Mini Sheet Cake
with Chocolate Frosting! I've been on alert for Trader Joe's Yellow Mini Sheet Cake with chocolate frosting after seeing u/aswewaltz posted it in NY on Reddit 8 days ago. Every trip, I was disappointed. But today...finally... TJ's in the PNW have been blessed with the new gluten free sheet cake. So let's cut into it!…
We Tried Trader Joe’s Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns
I was skeptical when I saw that Trader Joe's newest dumpling was teriyaki-flavored. Teriyaki in a bao? I imagined a gloopy super sweet soy-based sauce overwhelming the veg filling. But now that I've tried Trader Joe's Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns? I think it's meant to be more of a shorthand toward a sweet,…

We Tried Trader Joe’s Patio Potato Chips

Ketchup Chips Come to the US, Along w/ 3 Other Flavors in One Bag!

When the company previewed its summer products earlier this year, Trader Joe’s Patio Potato Chips ($2.29 for a 6 oz. bag) were high on my list. With four flavors in one bag — Delicious Dill, Ketchup, Sea Salt and Vinegar, and Smokin’ Sweet BBQ — I figured they’d be great or merge into one unidentifiable flavor. The good news is they’re in stores now. The even better news is, they’re DELICIOUS and you’re pretty much going to want them at every cookout, beach party or barbecue this summer.

Trader Joe’s Patio Potato Chips feature four flavors in one bag.

They have slight ridges to hold onto their flavor crystals and each flavor is really distinct. The BBQ is smokier than typical BBQ chips in the US. Did I mention they’re Product of Canada, so you can be confident the ketchup flavor is spot on? The salt and vinegar is pleasant, not overly salty or acidic. The dill is just dill, not dill pickle, which is great in my book. Can I even say I have a favorite flavor among the four? No. They’re honestly all good.

Trader Joe’s Patio Potato Chips are a must for every cookout, beach party and barbecue this summer.

The ingredient list is pretty clean — russet potatoes, canola oil, cane sugar, vinegar powder, sea salt and then various spices, including tomato powder, dried yeast, onion powder, etc.

If I have any complaints, it’s that the 6 oz. bag is a little bit small, even a smidge smaller than Kettle Chips’ regular 8 oz. bags. But that’s just being nitpicky.

I’m still doing a little sleuthing to try and figure out who the Canadian supplier might be…but none of the usual suspects seem to make skinny-ridged chips like this. I’ll keep you posted.

These weren’t in the new products section in my store, so check the chip aisle, too. I’m betting they’re gonna go fast.
