New for Holiday 2022, Trader Joe’s Date Royale is a deglet noor date stuffed with peanut butter and “enrobed” in dark chocolate. At $8 for a box of 10, it’s a little spendy. But they come individually wrapped and you could easily put them out in a dish for a little sweet treat at a holiday get together. Or throw a couple in your bag for emergencies.
The peanut butter filling definitely isn’t as generous as pictured and the chocolate on the outside dominates overall. You get sweetness and a little bit of texture from the date, but I wish it had more peanut butter. Overall, it’s a pretty clean sweet treat, and you do get a little (and I mean little) bit of fiber and potassium from the date. But would I rather just have a couple of peanut butter cups? Probably.
Overall for me, these are fine, but there’s nothing particularly amazing about them. I won’t be running back to TJ’s to grab another box.
