We Tried Trader Joe’s Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns
I was skeptical when I saw that Trader Joe's newest dumpling was teriyaki-flavored. Teriyaki in a bao? I imagined a gloopy super sweet soy-based sauce overwhelming the veg filling. But now that I've tried Trader Joe's Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns? I think it's meant to be more of a shorthand toward a sweet,…

We Tried Trader Joe’s Amarena Cherry Goat Cheese

Trader Joe’s Amarena Cherry Goat Cheese showed up in my store just after Valentine’s Day, when it would have been great for a little cheese board for two. And while the cherries themselves usually turn up during the winter holidays, I’m not mad this one rolled out a little later.

It gives cherry cheesecake vibes without being too sweet, making it a good choice to go with Leslie Stowe Raincoast Crisps. I got some at Costco over the holidays and regular grocery stores carry them, too. TJ’s Olive and Fig Crisps could also work. But of course, the first thing I thought of was goat cheese crumbled over a little arugula salad. Added some toasted pecans and dressed it with white balsamic dressing. If you want extra sweetness you could also throw in some dried cherries.

Arugula Salad with Toasted Pecans, Amarena Cherry Goat Cheese and White Balsamic Dressing

I liked Trader Joe’s Amarena Cherry Goat Cheese a lot. Would I buy it again? For sure. I tend to like the cheeses that incorporate a little fruit. Trader Joe’s usually has that stilton with apricot bits in it and different Wensleydale cheeses with cranberry or blueberry that are pretty good. I think they change with the season.

I like that this is a smaller log size, but like the regular goat cheese, the packaging is a little annoying. Because unless you’re opening the whole thing and cutting slices, you kind of have to open one end and smoosh it down to get some cheese crumbles out. It’s not the end of the world, I’m just being nitpicky.
