We Tried Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Yellow Mini Sheet Cake
with Chocolate Frosting! I've been on alert for Trader Joe's Yellow Mini Sheet Cake with chocolate frosting after seeing u/aswewaltz posted it in NY on Reddit 8 days ago. Every trip, I was disappointed. But today...finally... TJ's in the PNW have been blessed with the new gluten free sheet cake. So let's cut into it!…
We Tried Trader Joe’s Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns
I was skeptical when I saw that Trader Joe's newest dumpling was teriyaki-flavored. Teriyaki in a bao? I imagined a gloopy super sweet soy-based sauce overwhelming the veg filling. But now that I've tried Trader Joe's Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns? I think it's meant to be more of a shorthand toward a sweet,…

Trader Joe’s to Offer Meatless Burger

Latest Podcast Previews 6 New Products Coming This Fall / Winter

Capitalizing on the meatless burger trend, Trader Joe’s previewed its entry into the market in the latest episode of its Inside Trader Joe’s podcast. Trader Joe’s version will target meat-eaters, but they’re quick to point out this one isn’t designed to bleed like meat. And at $4.99, it will be a dollar cheaper than other meatless burger products on the market. Availability date was not provided.

In the episode, Trader Joe’s also teased a handful of other products slated to hit shelves through the fall and winter.

Chocolate Lava Gnocchi – Details are scarce on this one. While they mention that you prepare them by sautéing them in butter, there’s no mention whether they’re a ricotta gnocchi or are actually potato-based.

Kung Pao Chicken Mochi Balls – While most Trader Joe’s shoppers are probably familiar with the mochi ice cream in the freezer section, these savory appetizers go pan-Asian and feature a spicy kung pao filling. Trader Joe’s recommends popping them in a toaster oven (or oven) for 12-14 minutes to get a crispy crust, the chew of the mochi and the pop of flavor from the kung pao chicken.

Organic Chickpea and Red Lentil Risoni – A high protein substitute for rice, the risoni is made with just two ingredients: chickpea flour and red lentil flour. You boil it in water, just as you do rice.

Pumpkin Spice Biocellulose Mask – Joining the hydrating cucumber face mask, Trader Joe’s is bringing the pumpkin spice trend to its skincare lineup. Colin Fields of Trader Joe’s said it “deeply soothes and moisturizes your skin and it gives you aromas of pumpkin spice notes…” I actually saw this one in my local store today.

Cat Advent Calendar – Last Christmas Trader Joe’s shoppers were big fans of the Dog Advent Calendar and cat people were keen for a version for their feline overlords. This holiday season, Trader Joe’s will offer a cat advent calendar with treats made from salmon and seaweed.
