Trader Joe’s Throws Down with Neapolitan Joe-Joe’s
August 6, 2018
While Oreo has been on a tear introducing limited edition flavors over the last few years, Trader Joe’s effort has been more measured, lining up with their pushes around various flavors. There have been Mango Joe-Joe’s, Mocha Joe-Joe’s, Matcha Joe-Joe’s, and everyone’s perennial holiday favorite: the Peppermint Joe-Joe. Now, Trader Joe’s has delivered an old school flavor favorite: Neapolitan Joe-Joe’s. It’s vanilla cookie with strawberry cream filling, topped with a chocolate cookie. It’s kind of a dunking dream come true.
I’m usually a person who eats the top cookie and scrapes the cream filling off with my teeth, but with these, I’d say crunch right through so you get a little bit of all the flavors in each bite. They’re not overly sweet and they’re probably my favorite of the flavors so far. The cream filling is flavored with freeze-dried strawberries, so it’s pretty natural. Unfortunately for our gluten-free friends, Neapolitan Joe-Joe’s are made with wheat flour. Fingers crossed that if they do well enough TJ’s will consider a GF version.
