We Tried Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Yellow Mini Sheet Cake
with Chocolate Frosting! I've been on alert for Trader Joe's Yellow Mini Sheet Cake with chocolate frosting after seeing u/aswewaltz posted it in NY on Reddit 8 days ago. Every trip, I was disappointed. But today...finally... TJ's in the PNW have been blessed with the new gluten free sheet cake. So let's cut into it!…
Trader Joe's Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns bag with bao on a red steamer basket
We Tried Trader Joe’s Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns
I was skeptical when I saw that Trader Joe's newest dumpling was teriyaki-flavored. Teriyaki in a bao? I imagined a gloopy super sweet soy-based sauce overwhelming the veg filling. But now that I've tried Trader Joe's Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns? I think it's meant to be more of a shorthand toward a sweet,…

Quick Hit Review: The Lion’s Den by Katherine St. John

The Lion's Den cover with an overhead shot of the bow of a yacht with a woman in a white bikini and orange hat tanning.

Review copy provided by the publisher

The Lion’s Den rides the line between suspense and soap opera…it’s a little crazy…but with just enough grit to feel real.

In The Lion’s Den, when Belle’s best friend invites her to a birthday bash on a boat on the Italian Riviera, she can’t say no. She’s a struggling actress, and two have known each other since they were teenagers. But now Summer’s got a much older, billionaire boyfriend. So we’re talking a private jet and a week on a yacht with 7 others, including their friends Wendy and Claire, Summer’s mom and sister, and an extra friend. But from the moment they board the jet, there’s some shadiness going on. Summer’s boyfriend dictates who sits where, they have to turn over their passports, and no posting unapproved pictures.

The Lion’s Den has shades of the Talented Mr. Ripley — beautiful people, fabulous wealth, and a Mediterranean backdrop…the question is will there be seven of them when the boat docks?

Filled with betrayal, jealousy, gold digging and shady business dealings, The Lion’s Den is a deliciously soapy, sun drenched escape with a twist I didn’t see coming. Fair warning, Summer is a terrible person who isn’t afraid to step on anyone, or go to any length, to get what she wants.

CW: statutory rape, blackmail, roofied at a party, attempted murder

PUBLISHER’S SYNOPSIS:

In the midst of a sizzling hot summer, some of Hollywood’s most notorious faces are assembled on the idyllic Caribbean island of St. Genesius to film The Siren, starring dangerously handsome megastar Cole Power playing opposite his ex-wife, Stella Rivers. The surefire blockbuster promises to entice audiences with its sultry storyline and intimately connected cast.

Three very different women arrive on set, each with her own motive. Stella, an infamously unstable actress, is struggling to reclaim the career she lost in the wake of multiple, very public breakdowns. Taylor, a fledgling producer, is anxious to work on a film she hopes will turn her career around after her last job ended in scandal. And Felicity, Stella’s mysterious new assistant, harbors designs of her own that threaten to upend everyone’s plans.

With a hurricane brewing offshore, each woman finds herself trapped on the island, united against a common enemy. But as deceptions come to light, misplaced trust may prove more perilous than the storm itself.
