I spent last week in a food photography workshop at Santa Fe Photography Workshops taught by Tracy Benjamin of Shutterbean. I rolled into town on the night of the Game of Thrones finale (solid WiFi FTW!) and got ready for four days of making and editing pictures. Our group of six ended up being the perfect size for the class.
La Choza had great margaritas and New Mexican food. It’s the sister restaurant to The Shed. From what we heard, locals go to La Choza.

So let’s get to the food photography. Moody cherry pie at Santa Fe Photo Workshop. This might be my favorite of my food shots from the workshop. One of the few I took with my DSLR.
The Tuesday market was on the smaller side (the weather had been wacky the day or two before – snow, hail), but the strawberries and sugar snaps were gorgeous.
A reminder that sometimes you need to look up to find the interesting shots.

I definitely came out of the week with tools to improve my photography and editing. Even with tools I was already using I learned new stuff. Just gotta keep looking and shooting.
