We Tried Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Yellow Mini Sheet Cake
with Chocolate Frosting! I've been on alert for Trader Joe's Yellow Mini Sheet Cake with chocolate frosting after seeing u/aswewaltz posted it in NY on Reddit 8 days ago. Every trip, I was disappointed. But today...finally... TJ's in the PNW have been blessed with the new gluten free sheet cake. So let's cut into it!…
We Tried Trader Joe’s Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns
I was skeptical when I saw that Trader Joe's newest dumpling was teriyaki-flavored. Teriyaki in a bao? I imagined a gloopy super sweet soy-based sauce overwhelming the veg filling. But now that I've tried Trader Joe's Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns? I think it's meant to be more of a shorthand toward a sweet,…

The $6 Rosé at Trader Joe’s That’s Blowing Our Minds

In 2002, Trader Joe’s introduced Charles Shaw wines, forever altering the “extreme value” segment of the wine industry. Nicknamed Two Buck Chuck, it cost $1.99 a bottle. Sixteen years later, news outlets are *still* writing about it.  Trader Joe’s wine selection (the lesser known labels) is hit and miss for me, but a friend recently posted about a new fave rosé and when she told me it was from Trader Joe’s, I was skeptical. But for $6? I’ll give it a go. Lo and behold, she’s right, the 2017 La Coqueluche rosé (Pays D’oc) is an easy drinking rosé that’s gonna take us through the rest of the summer on the cheap!

Often, rosé on the cheaper end of the scale is sweet, fruity overload, almost like drinking Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hill. (Don’t pretend like you don’t know).  La Coqueluche is nothing like that, it’s absolutely delightful. Bright pink with strawberry and peach flavors, it’s balanced with slight minerality.  Although the label isn’t giving up the details on what grape varietals are in the bottle, it hardly matters. For the price, it’s hard to beat.

Stock up before it disappears.

2017 La Coqueluche Rosé

$5.99 per bottle; Trader Joe’s

UPDATE 5/12/19: We just tried the 2018 La Coqueluche Rose in stores now. It’s up $1 to $6.99 for us in the Pacific Northwest, but the wine is still just as good.
