We Tried Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Yellow Mini Sheet Cake
with Chocolate Frosting! I've been on alert for Trader Joe's Yellow Mini Sheet Cake with chocolate frosting after seeing u/aswewaltz posted it in NY on Reddit 8 days ago. Every trip, I was disappointed. But today...finally... TJ's in the PNW have been blessed with the new gluten free sheet cake. So let's cut into it!…
We Tried Trader Joe’s Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns
I was skeptical when I saw that Trader Joe's newest dumpling was teriyaki-flavored. Teriyaki in a bao? I imagined a gloopy super sweet soy-based sauce overwhelming the veg filling. But now that I've tried Trader Joe's Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns? I think it's meant to be more of a shorthand toward a sweet,…

Island Fruit Float with Dry Zero Sugar Soda

On this fine #NationalIceCreamDay, we’re celebrating with the simplest of ice cream treats, short of a scoop. The ice cream float. Sure, you could just go with root beer or Coke, never a bad choice, but Dry Soda Company has expanded their offerings with a new zero sugar soda line, sweetened with erythritol and stevia. The four flavors in the line are cola, island fruit, mountain berry, and peach tea. Today’s recipe features island fruit, which has a whiff of coconut along with a mix of fruit flavors.

A couple of months ago I had a chance to try Dry’s Zero Sugar soda line, and now they’re rolling out in stores across the US, including Kroger, Target, Raley’s in Northern California, select H.E.B. stores in Texas, and at Bartell’s, Metropolitan Market, Safeway, and Town and Country Markets in Washington state. Use Dry’s product finder to find the zero sugar soda at a store near you, and call ahead. I tried two Safeways near me and came up empty handed.

For the summer, Dry also released two seasonal celebration bottle flavors: Watermelon and Pineapple. You know we love the watermelon around here and featured it in a watermelon spin on the Americano cocktail last summer. Where pineapple juice can be a pretty in your face flavor, Dry has mellowed it out a bit, and it’s a refreshing, but not overpowering summer sipper. Fingers crossed it makes it into the year-round lineup. The celebration bottles are currently available at Cost Plus World Market and other select locations (store finder).
