We Tried Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Yellow Mini Sheet Cake
with Chocolate Frosting! I've been on alert for Trader Joe's Yellow Mini Sheet Cake with chocolate frosting after seeing u/aswewaltz posted it in NY on Reddit 8 days ago. Every trip, I was disappointed. But today...finally... TJ's in the PNW have been blessed with the new gluten free sheet cake. So let's cut into it!…
We Tried Trader Joe’s Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns
I was skeptical when I saw that Trader Joe's newest dumpling was teriyaki-flavored. Teriyaki in a bao? I imagined a gloopy super sweet soy-based sauce overwhelming the veg filling. But now that I've tried Trader Joe's Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns? I think it's meant to be more of a shorthand toward a sweet,…

‘The Hot Scot’: A Warming Winter Cocktail Inspired by FIGHT OR FLIGHT

Samantha Young’s next release, FIGHT OR FLIGHT, hits shelves today in United States. It’s a steamy enemies-to-lovers story that starts in an airport and traps the hero and heroine on a cross country flight.  (Full review here). Bickery banter ensues. Hero Caleb Scott defines alpha-hole, and abrasive as he is at the beginning, he sure knows how to deliver a swoony line without sounding cheesy.  Today’s cocktail, ‘the Hot Scot’ is inspired by him. It’s a fall riff on the hot toddy using apple cider, Scotch and chile-infused Mike’s Hot Honey.  (Mike’s Hot Honey is also great drizzled over pizza, so if you pick up a bottle, there will be plenty of uses for it.)

I’m not much of a Scotch drinker, but go for something affordable. There’s no need to splurge on a well-aged single malt, blended will be just fine. Look for one with vanilla and spice notes. I went through my local liquor store and grabbed a bottle of MacQueen’s 3 year. Nothing fancy.

If you don’t (or can’t) drink alcohol, you can skip it and still have a really delicious spicy cider.
