So -the Gourmet Next Door. How was it? Was it Julia Child meets Rachael Ray? I’m sorry to say, it’s lowest common denomenator. How many times have you seen someone on FN make a flank steak or a London broil and advise cutting it across the grain? For that matter, how many times did it take you to figure out you *should* have cut that steak the other way?
Did I learn anything? Yes. I haven’t been brave enough to make pate a choux and now I know you need to stir it like a crazy person to ensure it comes together the right way.
Will I watch it again? Sure, I’ll give it an epi or two more and then it’ll probably lose its place on the Season Pass list.
What show did I actually find worse? Nigella Express. The whole Nigella thing is about food as sex… it’s a sensuous, langorous, “I-am-a-goddess-and-a-domestic-one-at-that” exercise. Nigella Express is just a case of coitus interrruptus. Corner cutting without the satisfaction. It’s off the Season Pass.
