We Tried Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Yellow Mini Sheet Cake
with Chocolate Frosting! I've been on alert for Trader Joe's Yellow Mini Sheet Cake with chocolate frosting after seeing u/aswewaltz posted it in NY on Reddit 8 days ago. Every trip, I was disappointed. But today...finally... TJ's in the PNW have been blessed with the new gluten free sheet cake. So let's cut into it!…
We Tried Trader Joe’s Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns
I was skeptical when I saw that Trader Joe's newest dumpling was teriyaki-flavored. Teriyaki in a bao? I imagined a gloopy super sweet soy-based sauce overwhelming the veg filling. But now that I've tried Trader Joe's Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns? I think it's meant to be more of a shorthand toward a sweet,…

Gourmet Next Door Debuts Sunday at 1p.m. ET

(image from http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/tv/)

The winners of the Next Food Network Star don’t have much of a track record when it comes to having successful shows on Food Network. I lost interest in Partyline with Hearty Boys (who thought of that and how quick were they fired?) after just a couple of episodes. And Guy’s Big Bite? It’s ok, and he’s been able to parlay himself into hosting Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives…but have I made anything from any of these shows or been compelled to visit restaurants? You gotta be kidding.

This Sunday, Next Food Network Star Season 3 winner Amy Finley’s new show debuts at 1 p.m. ET. For those of us lucky enough to get the East Coast feed on Directv, that’ll be 10 a.m. PT. The “Gourmet Next Door” is the “perspective” (read: marketing angle) dreamed up during Finley’s run on the Next Food Network Star. It looks like the first epi will capitalize on Amy’s training in France — bistro favorites, pate a choux, etc. So is that Rachael Ray meets Julia Child? Remains to be seen. Review to come on Sunday.
