We Tried Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Yellow Mini Sheet Cake
with Chocolate Frosting! I've been on alert for Trader Joe's Yellow Mini Sheet Cake with chocolate frosting after seeing u/aswewaltz posted it in NY on Reddit 8 days ago. Every trip, I was disappointed. But today...finally... TJ's in the PNW have been blessed with the new gluten free sheet cake. So let's cut into it!…
We Tried Trader Joe’s Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns
I was skeptical when I saw that Trader Joe's newest dumpling was teriyaki-flavored. Teriyaki in a bao? I imagined a gloopy super sweet soy-based sauce overwhelming the veg filling. But now that I've tried Trader Joe's Teriyaki Mushroom Mini Bao Buns? I think it's meant to be more of a shorthand toward a sweet,…

>A Good Slice of ‘Za

This is one of those delayed reaction posts — digital cameras can just be like their old school counterparts when you don’t bother to sync your camera (or finish off a roll of film) in a reasonable amount of time. Over the July 4 holiday, Wolf and I went up to Mendocino for a long weekend. Last time we were up we’d heard that there was a bakery in town that made some pretty damn good pizza.

Last trip was about going out to eat every night, this trip was about hangin’ in the room — and a pizza to go from Mendocino Bakery was right up our alley. It’s not an every day occurrence, as far as I know, and the bakery will post a sign in the window on the night they have pizza. Good sauce (you actually have a choice of red, white or pesto — we went red). And while they have a number of gourmet options, for us, our standby is pepperoni, green pepper and mushroom.

We’re such connoisseurs of the ‘za that the last time we were in Mendocino we ended up at the Pizza Factory “We Toss ’em, They’re Awesome” up in Fort Bragg. It’s got its own charm — feels like one of those joints where you had “Pizza Night” in elementary school — complete with old standup versions of Galaga and Centipede (ok, I don’t remember what the Pizza Factory actually had) and the ‘za was pretty good for a chain — far better than Dominos.
