Trader Joe’s Rolls Out Tater Bites, Part Deux

Last month, Trader Joe’s rolled out its first round of Tater Bites and we heard a second flavor might be on the way. Now, for the meat lovers, we’ve got an Egg, Sausage and Ham option, also priced at $3.49, ready to go into the air fryer.

All you’re looking at is spraying your air fryer pan/tray with a little oil (it’s a must, they stick) and seven minutes at 375F.

The flavor overall for me was pretty similar to the non-meat version, and the nubs of sausage are pretty small. Luckily, no weird bits in the sausage. I don’t know if I could have told you there was ham in it. There’s ham flavor, but not really identifiable bits of ham, as you’ll see in the cross-section. Overall, it’s good. I think the original, non-meat one edges it out slightly as the favorite for me personally. But maybe that’s because the crispy cheese on the non-meat one was a little more impressive.

Would I buy Trader Joe’s Tater Bites again? Between the two, I’d probably go for the non-meat. They’re pretty much neck and neck on the nutrition facts, and interestingly this version only has 1 more gram of protein. So it’s just preference.
