We Tried Trader Joe’s Tater Bites w/ Cheese & Chives

Here’s the long and the short of Trader Joe’s Tater Bites (Potato with Cheese and Chives). At $3.49 for a package of two, it seems a little pricey. But once you toss them in the airfryer and you see the golden brown crispy top, it won’t even matter. They’re in the refrigerated section, near the egg bites.

Ok, so let’s take a look before we airfry.

Heat the airfryer to 375F and cook for 7 minutes. Make sure to spray the pan with a little oil as directed, because they will stick a little bit. (Ask me how I know). I didn’t bother turning them at the half way point. Now, just LOOK AT THEM! That brown crispy cheese.

Salty, eggy, cheesy — delicious. But weirdly light on potato for something called a tater bite. Not a complaint, just an observation. These are tasty and if you want a breakfast on the go, I ‘d throw them on English muffins. You could probably get away with microwaving (the package suggests airfryer or toaster oven), but you won’t get that gorgeous brown cheese, which is a major selling point. I think they’d get lost in a breakfast burrito, but that could work, too.

Would I buy Trader Joe’s Tater Bites again? For the right situation where I needed the convenience, I would. When I bought them, the crew member ringing up my groceries mentioned they might be coming in more flavors. Fingers crossed.
