Trader Joe’s latest addition to its frozen pizza lineup is a rectangular Detroit Style Pepperoni Pizza. It’s pan pizza with a thicker, bready crust and cheesy fried edges. At $7.99, it’s on the slightly pricier side for frozen, but it’s noticeably heavier when you pick it up out of the freezer case.

It comes in its own pan ready to bake at 425F for 23-25 minutes (I went the full 25). On the upper rack, it gets a nice golden brown top. I cut it into sixths and 2 squares + salad was enough for me at lunch. I liked it a lot. If there’s any downside, it’s that longer bake time. I mean, it doesn’t beat a Costco pepperoni for overall value, but if you’re craving a thicker pan pizza, it’s good, and it fits the bill. And kinda reminds me of Little Caesars circa 1990, but maybe its just the rectangle shape.

Would I buy it again? Yeah, maybe. I’m more of a thin crust gal, so I’d probably go for Costco, but that’s just a preference thing. I mean look at it, it looks good!

Oh wait, let’s get a look at the bottom so you can see the crust. Nice crunchy bottom edges.
