If you love a chocolate chocolate chip bagel, you’ll like the newest item to hit Trader Joe’s bakery section. Trader Joe’s Double Chocolate Batard is a par-baked loaf you throw in the oven to heat through and crisp up for 10-12 minutes. Then you stuff it in your face post haste.

The loaf I grabbed had decent chocolate chip distribution without going overboard. And it’s tasty on its own straight out of the oven. But I’ve got an amazingly delicious desserty idea for you.

While you’re at Trader Joe’s, grab a tub of their seasonal chocolate mascarpone and a jar of the Amarena cherries. The mascarpone is on the looser side, but is so damn delicious and chocolatey. I won’t blame you if you just eat it by the spoonful. And if the cherries are too medicinal for you, skip ’em. The mascarpone is enough!

But give the mascarpone a stir and smear it on slices of the batard. Top each slice with a couple of cherries and chow down. So good. It’s totally different, but just as good as the Fig and Honey Batard which is back again. Use the fig to go with a charcuterie board, grab the chocolate for dessert.
It’d also be delicious with a schmear of peanut butter (or pb AND banana). It’s a buy again for sure.
