As the box says, Trader Joe’s Kibbeh is a Middle Eastern-inspired stuffed meatball. Ground beef cooked with onions and other seasonings are enclosed in a bulghur shell and fried. When they get to you, you just throw them in the oven or airfryer.
The ingredient list is impressively clean. Cooked beef, onions, water, cracked bulgur wheat, farina, paprika, salt, black pepper, allspice, cumin, coriander and sunflower oil. It doesn’t get much simpler than that.
They come six to a box, so if you’re thinking of adding these to your Super Bowl spread, I’d include some hummus and tabbouleh as well. I dipped them in Trader Joe’s Zhoug which gave them the zing and heat needed to perk up these little meatballs. If yogurt dips are more your speed, grab a tub of TJ’s tzatziki or make your own.
Trader Joe’s Kibbeh were a win at our house, the only downside being that there’s only six in the box. The only thing that struck me as odd was the branding and design is the same as with the Beef Pho. Not sure what the connection is, if any.
