With the way seasonal products have been flying off the shelves at Trader Joe’s, I thought we should try to get ahead of St. Patrick’s Day. Of course, St. Paddy’s is less about gift giving and candy, but TJ’s will soon stock a bunch of items you might want to be on the lookout for. Let’s get to it.
Corned Beef and Cabbage. Tj’s typically has an uncured (and uncooked) version to make at home. They also have a pre-cooked version that comes in a black package with neon lettering on it.
Irish Cream Liqueur. If your store carries alcohol, they might have both these brands — Five Farms and Golden Vale. These are the only St. Paddy’s products I’ve seen in stores so far in 2024. I picked up the Golden Vale since it got pretty good reviews on Reddit and was about 1/3 the price. It was good in Irish Coffee.
On the beer front, St. Paddy’s is when Trader Joe’s usually stocks Smithwick’s Red (along with Guinness of course), which we’ve enjoyed in years past.
Irish Bangers. With vendors changing year-to-year, we’ll keep our fingers crossed the Irish Bangers are as good as in years past. I usually pick up an extra package to freeze and have later in the year. [Update 3/11: Asked at my local today and was told they are not returning for St. Patrick’s Day 2024. Sadness].
I can’t say I’ve ever bought the Irish Porter Cheese, but it’s been a fixture for a few/several years.
One other item TJ’s typically carries, though I don’t have a photo, is Irish soda bread. Check the bakery department.
It’s tough to predict what might be new for St. Paddy’s this year, you never know with TJ’s. Their own version of a shamrock shake but in the ice cream department? Just kidding.
