I know lots of people are gearing up for spooky season, but I’m still fully about summer. And so is Trader Joe’s apparently, with the handful of new items hitting shelves this week. First up, S’mores Bars.
In the frozen section, these bars feature a brownie layer with a graham cracker curst and marshmallow creme topping. You have the option to either just thaw them or bake or air fry them. Any which way, I think I might still add a square or two of chocolate or even some chocolate syrup on there for the melty chocolate part of the experience.
MINI REVIEW: I really love the tangerine cream bars, so I had high hopes for these Trader Joe’s Root Beer Float Bars. But they’re not for me. The color of the root beer layer is much lighter than pictured on the box. But ok, maybe that’s just the ice cream part showing through a little bit. On first bite, you get the scent of root beer (good start!), but then they started to taste like the blue roll of pep-o-mint life savers to me. Is it my tastebuds, or is just that weird? The texture of the ice cream part is also strange. It was actually kind of gummy/stretchy like they went a little overboard trying to get a nice creamy texture. I don’t think we’re gonna be finishing the box.
As previously announced on Inside Trader Joes, the Eucalyptus candle has landed. I don’t know how strong it is when it burns, but with a quick sniff of the tin it was plenty strong on its own.
Non-Dairy Ice Cream fans have a new oat-based Vanilla Bean option, just in time to go a la mode on Peach or Berry Crisp/Cobbler/Pie. I’ll pick this one up next trip, there’s no room in the freezer.
Vegan Italian Bolognese Ravioli looks promising. The filling is lentil and mushroom-based. The sodium isn’t too off the charts. I grabbed a can of the Marzanino tomatoes (a new fave) so I’ll make a quick marinara to go with and report back soon. I liked the vegan cashew spinach ravioli, so fingers crossed for this one.
