Trader Joe’s rolled out 20 new and returning summer items on the latest episode of Inside Trader Joe’s. Several are already in stores in my area, so they’re undoubtedly in yours, too! Let’s get to the list.
RETURNING
Roasted red pepper hummus — This reformulated hummus is topped with a “roasted red pepper relish of sorts” versus the pepper being mixed in.
Tangerine Cream Bars — We enjoyed this riff on the Creamsicle/ 50-50 bar all summer. Excited to see them back. Mango Cream has already been kicking around one of the stores near me.
Ube Mochi Ice Cream– FINALLY! My favorite of all of TJ’s Ube products is expected toward the end of June.
Sugar cones — Ice cream is almost always better on cone, isn’t it?
Strawberry lemonade Joe-Joe’s — Lemon cookie with strawberry filling. I’ve already seen these in my local TJs.
Strawberry Jalapeño Crisps crackers — TJ’s was talking up the jalapeno aroma when you crack the bag. I don’t think I’ve actually had these.
Crab Paws – Soft baked crab flavored dog treats.
Organic Midnight Moo Chocolate Syrup — Chocolate syrup lovers have been waiting for this one
Returning Candle: Mango Tangerine — It’ll be interesting to see if this one is in the tin container or the glass after the overheating/ glass cracking issues with the Tomato Leaf candle.
Jalapeño Lime Onion Crunch – I don’t know if this is less crunchy than the original chili onion crunch, but I’m not rushing out for this one.
NEW:
S’mores Ice Cream — We’ve seen rumors about this one kicking around Reddit. According to the TJ’s podcast, it’s a graham cracker flavored ice cream with marshmallow and chocolate swirls. They tried graham cracker bits during the testing process, but apparently the crackers didn’t stay crunchy. I say grab a box of graham crackers and make your own ice cream sandwich. Strawberry Lemonade Ice Bars – Sorbetto and even possibly water ice fans are gonna love this one. They’re touting that these ice bars will only have 45 calories per bar, so I’ll be interested to see how big they are and how much sugar they have! Made in Italy.
Organic Pasta Quintet — TJ’s new pasta quintet will feature mini fusilli; vesuvio, a volcano shape that’s kind of like a helix; radiatore; a shape they describe as “rims” which I’m guessing is rotelle; and macaroni. Expected between now and the end of the month.
Lemon Pesto Sauce — That pasta quintet’s gonna need some sauce, so they’re rolling out a lemon pesto with lemon, lemon rind, and almonds instead of pine nuts. Unclear if it’s in the refrigerated section or shelf stable. I’m hoping the fridge.
Pearl Mozzarella – I swear TJ’s had Pearl Mozzarella years ago, but maybe I’m wrong. Usually the size of big peas.
Mafalda Corta Pasta — Considered new, this pasta shape is already on shelves. They look like mini lasagna noodles and they’re great with bolognese. I also made a vegetarian pasta with zucchini.
Sri Lankan Mango Chutney — A couple of years ago TJ’s carried a ginger mango chutney and the TJ’s hosts were quick to point out, this is NOT THAT. And in fact this is a Sri Lankan recipe that’s just mang, and it’s got some heat. We’ll be the judge of that. 😉
Dark Chocolate Pineapple Sticks — If you love Trader Joe’s dark chocolate orange or watermelon sticks, they’ve now got a pineapple version on the way.
New Candle: Eucalyptus – This new scent was chosen in a contest TJ’s had several months ago.
Guava Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream – Scented with pink guava, this new hand cream is expected in early July. I’m excited for this one.
