I’m sure for some people it feels like you just took down your holiday decorations, but retail waits for no one. Trader Joe’s is stocked with Valentine’s Day treats. From boxed chocolates to gummy XOXOs to heart shaped macarons, it’s time to stock up whether for your honey, your sweetheart, your Galentines / Palentines, or YOURSELF!
I missed out on the red white and green holiday wreaths (I’m not sure we even got them in my area, tho we did get the garland, so when I saw this heart wreath on Reddit, I knew it had to be mine. Yes, $19.99 is a little spendy, but sometimes you gotta treat yourself. u/carrotsforfree mentioned seeing something simliar for cheaper at their local Home Goods, but I didn’t see anything at mine.
The garland is super cute too, and way more affordable at $8.99. You can always shape it into a heart.
Spotted the Heart Shaped Macarons yesterday in my local TJ’s. I reviewed them a couple years ago and now really just use them as props for bookstagrams. I keep hoping for a Nutella macaron.
Nobody beats Jelly Belly, but these Jelly Bean Hearts are still a fave and at least they have more flavor than standard Brach’s jelly beans, which I kind of think of as Easter candy.
P.S. The heart items are super cute, but if you really love someone, buy them a bag of Maple Pancake Flavored Puffs. Or two. So good.
UPDATE 1/26: NEW ITEMS IN STORE
Trader Joe’s Chocolate Palette($9.99) has eight flavors (3 of each, for a total of 24): Dark Chocolate Vanilla, Dark Chocolate Crispy Corn, Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel, Dark Chocolate Coffee, Dark Chocolate Praline, Milk Chocolate Praline, Milk Chocolate Crispy Rice and Hazelnut and Milk Chocolate Crispy Almond.
Like the label says: Rich Chocolate Layer Cake + Chocolate Mousse Filling = True Love. I haven’t actually tried this one. TJ’s baked goods are a mixed bag for me. So weigh in with how you liked it.
If raspberry is more your jam, you can always grab these mini mousse cakes.
Until next time!
[UPDATE 2/1/23] – NEW ITEMS IN STORE
These caramel hearts are roughly the size of a quarter. I brought a bag home but haven’t cracked them open yet.
Trader Joe’s has had something similar around the holidays in year’s past, though I can’t say I remember seeing it this year? Although ruby cacao is pretty, the chocolate flavor is fairly mild, so I’m guessing it gets a boost from the truffle filling. Note that there are 4 in a box.
Early reviews seem to indicate these are going over better than previous hot cocoa melts (snowman, teddy bear, pumpkins). Some redditors have even been eating them straight out of the bag!
