We Tried Trader Joe’s Okie Dokie Non-Dairy Dessert

Things have been off to a slow start in the New Year, as far as Trader Joe’s reviews go. We just aren’t getting a lot of the new products that everyone in California has. And between major snow around New Year’s and pass closures since then, it’s just been a drag. Especially when what we did get is Trader Joe’s Okie Dokie non-dairy dessert. :-/

Made with oat milk, it features a caramel swirl and sponge candy. But even with the caramel, the only discernible flavor is sweet. Like a lot of Trader Joe’s non-dairy frozen desserts, the texture/mouthfeel is very good. But the “ice cream” part isn’t vanilla-y or anything, and the caramel swirl is a little sparse. The sponge candy adds some nice crunch, but like I said, the flavor is just sweet.

I’d pass on this one. I won’t be buying again.

Items I hope to review sometime soon, if they even show up in my area:

Cacio e Pepe Corn and Rice Puffs — if the Jalapeño Seasoned ones are anything to go by, these are gonna be a win. Fingers crossed.

Chocolate Sea Salt Oatmeal – Mentioned on a recent episode of the Inside Trader Joe’s podcast. No idea when it’s slated to hit shelves

Kalua Pork Spring Rolls – These could go either way and be great or a horror show. I can’t wait to see which it is. Seems like I should pick up some sweet chili sauce at the same time.
