Trader Joe’s Vegan Ranch Dip was pretty good. But I couldn’t get past the fact you could still taste that it was made with a coconut cream base. But with this new Trader Joe’s Vegan Tzatziki Dip, I think they’ve got a winner on their hands for vegan and non-vegan eaters. Seriously.
With cucumber, lemon and a lot of dill, there’s no mistaking this one for tzatziki. Flavor-wise, it’s solid. The first ingredient is “non-dairy cream cheese alternative” which has coconut oil, potato starch, chickpea protein and a few other ingredients, including guar and xanthan gums.
I’ve just been dipping vegetables in it, but I could totally see putting it on a Greek-inspired burger, whether you’re using meat or Impossible Burgers. You could easily thin it with a little bit of non-dairy milk and use it as a vegan salad dressing.
I’m calling this one a win. We eat dairy, so I’ll probably stick with making tzatziki with yogurt, but in a pinch, I’d definitely buy Trader Joe’s Vegan Tzatziki Dip again.
