We Tried Trader Joe’s Murasaki Sweet Potato Chips

Ya’ll know how much I loved the Sweet Potato Chips from Peru Trader Joe’s had this spring/summer. Well, for the fall, they’re bringing us Trader Joe’s Murasaki Sweet Potato Chips. Made from a Japanese sweet potato variety that’s starchier and less sweet than a garnet or jewel yam, these new chips bring the crunch, but not as much sweetness.

A bag of Trader Joe's Murasaki Sweet Potato Chips with a pile of chips coming out of the top right corner of the bag.

On a recent episode of Inside Trader Joe’s, they called these out as a limited buy item, so when they’re gone, they’re gone. Limited supply of sweet potatoes, I guess.

Trader Joe’s Murasaki Sweet Potato Chips are almost like a regular potato chips with just a hint of the usual sweetness of sweet potato chips. Starchy. Not too salty. Very dippable. Easily crunched up over the top of a casserole. They’re fine, but not super memorable. The ones from Peru are still my #1.
