They’re Not All Pumpkin, But Almost
If you’ve rolled through your local Trader Joe’s in the last week or so, or just scrolled through Instagram, you know pumpkin products are starting to hit shelves. On its latest podcast episode, the company delivered a Trader Joe’s pumpkin preview with 11 new products to be on the lookout for this fall. (Not quite all of them are pumpkin).
Here’s the rundown:
Murasaki Sweet Potato Chips — A Japanese variety of sweet potato with a purple exterior and white flesh. They often have the sweet potatoes in the produce section, now the Murasakis will be hitting the chip aisle.
Everything But the Leftovers — If you love those Stuffing Chips, get ready for a bottled spice mix inspired by the classic flavors of Thanksgiving stuffing. I’m betting on sage, thyme, rosemary, and we’ll have to wait and see what else.
Dry Roasted Maple Almonds – It’s all in the name apparently.
Rwanda Simbi Small Lot Coffee Beans — From the Kivu region, it’s a light to medium roast from a very small farm.
ON THE PUMPKIN FRONT:
Pumpkin Spice Pretzel Slims — Dipped in white chocolate and crushed spiced pumpkin seeds.
Pumpkin Spice Batons — You’ve seen them in lemon and chocolate, now TJ’s is adding rolled wafer cookies filled with pumpkin spice filling.
Pumpkin Brioche – This buttery breakfast bread sounds like it’s gonna be perfect for Pumpkin Spice French toast. It’s a limited buy, so it’s not going to be around for the entire season. Get it while you can.
Spicy Pumpkin Curry Simmer Sauce – We’ve already tried this one, check out the review. But the podcast is saying it’s more of a Thai-inspired curry than an Indian one (and it does have lemongrass on the ingredient list). Honestly, I couldn’t tell.
Mini Spicy Pumpkin Samosas – TJ’s carries two other versions year round, chicken and vegetable, and now pumpkin is joining the party. Look for it in the freezer section. I’m excited about this one.
Pumpkin Empanadas – It sounds like this hand pie is on the sweet side of the spectrum, spiced with “kind of a classic spice, pumpkin pie spice filling.”
Pumpkin Mole Burrito — In the prepared foods section, it features a green pumpkin seed mole sauce, cilantro rice, black beans, sweet potatoes and cheese. I generally skip their prepared burritos, but I’m super curious about this one.
