Sweet, sexy, funny….and honest. Melonie Johnson hits her stride in Smitten by the Brit.
Maybe it’s partly because of our current obsession Harry and Meghan, but I loved SMITTEN BY THE BRIT, book 2 in Melonie Johnson’s Sometimes in Love series. But after meeting Bonnie and Theo in her debut, Getting Hot with the Scot, I kinda knew I would.
Initially, Bonnie and Theo are both are in Chicago. It’s home for Bonnie and the location of some charity event UK-based Theo needs to attend. Plus, these two are signed up as maid of honor and best man for their friends Cassie and Logan’s wedding. But then, Bonnie is offered a summer session teaching literature at Cambridge, so it only makes sense that the two of them might meet up on that side of the pond. And when Bonnie gets blindsided by her cheating fiancé (content warning!), the idea of taking off for England is better than ever. But will Theo just be the rebound guy?
Along the way, Bonnie discovers Theo is actually a duke (non-royal) and his own family is looking to make a match that’ll help save them from financial ruin. I wondered how it took Bonnie so long to actually Google him, but we’ll forgive her that.
I only wish Bonnie had gotten to Cambridge faster, because the chemistry between these two is…where’s that eyebrow waggle emoji when you need one? Like butter on a hot scone, indeed.
Melonie Johnson hits her stride in Smitten by the Brit. This book has a sexy confidence that confirms this is a totally bingeworthy series. The good news is, the next installment, Once Upon a Bad Boy, comes out June 28. So you won’t have to wait long. Now the only question is, will Theo’s sister Tabitha get her own book? The girl is a hoot!
If you loved Christina Lauren’s Wild Seasons books, this is a series to check out.
