Here’s what Memorial Day weekend looked like food-wise.

We finished off the weekend with some killer chicken brats from Crystal Springs Meat and Poultry, but it’s hard to make a sausage look pretty – even after being poached and grilled to crispy perfection. These guys got their poach on in a bottle of Full Sail Amber. Beer and brats — a marriage made in heaven. Unfortunately after spending half an hour at Safeway I couldn’t find the damn sauerkraut — not in the refrigerated section w/ pickles, not on the condiment aisle, so I gave up. A week later I discovered it on the canned vegetable aisle. Since when is sauerkraut a vegetable? Must have happened about the same time the gov’t declared ketchup one — hmh!
