RN74 TOASTS THE HOLIDAYS WITH CHAMPAGNE FETE

If you’re not spending this weekend with Luke and Rey and the latest Star Wars installment, here’s a quick look at a few food and wine events and classes in Seattle this weekend and beyond.

Saturday, December 16

RN74’s Champagne Fete (1:30-3:30 pm) – Join RN74 Sommeliers Jeff Linsday-Thorsen and Paul Swanson for a guided champagne tasting with six selections, including Dom Perignon 2004, Louis Roederer ‘Cristal’ 2009 and Marc Hebrart 2012 Special Club 2012. What’s champagne without oysters? The two hour tasting will also feature small bites from RN74 executive chef Thomas Griese.  Tickets are $95 per person. Reservations required: call  (206) 456-7474. Hot Stove Society: Classic Sauces (2:00-4:00 p.m.) — Chef Bridget Charters takes you through classic sauces including demi-glace, beurre blanc, glacage, hollandaise, bernaise and more. You’ll taste each sauce in a food pairing, go hands-on with hollandaise and sauce vert and take home some persillade. Tickets are $85. Hotel Andra, downtown Seattle.

Hot Stove Society: Drinking, Cursing and Cooking (6:00 – 8:00 p.m.) — Join Chef Matt Fortner for a devilish Krampus-inspired holiday class with 7 dishes and 4 beverage pairings including squid ink pasta with hot sauce with fried chicken wings, squid ink pasta with clams alla diavola, blood sausage and devil’s food cake. Tickets are $95. 

Wednesday, December 20

Willows Lodge Holiday Boot Camp (5:30 -6:30 p.m.) Barking Frog Pastry Chef Matt Kelley and Manager Court Knoop round out the Lodge’s complementary event series with Semolina Spiced Cake with Maple Frosting and hot buttered rum. Seating first come, first served, early arrival recommended. Willows Lodge, Woodinville.
