Issaquah Farmers Market Returns May 7

What a week. May the Fourth, Cinco de Mayo and maybe most importantly – the return of Farmers Market season in the Pacific Northwest. {Cue the fanfare!} After a weirdly warm winter, the Issaquah and Redmond Saturday markets return on Saturday, May 7.

While the first weeks of the season are usually all about asparagus, radishes, rhubarb, onions and peonies, it sounds like the warm spring has been a little crazy for the farmers as well. Hot days mean veggies that are used to cool days are bolting faster than usual. But could that warm weather bring us some early sugar snap peas? Maybe even local strawberries? Fingers crossed.

Lee's Fresh Produce is among the returning vendors at the Issaquah Farmers Market.

Issaquah’s 2016 vendors include several returning farmers and produce vendors: Hayton Farms, Kallstrom Sweet Corn, Lee’s Fresh Produce, Sky Harvest Produce/Youngquist Farms and Steel Wheel Farm. If you’re looking to grab breakfast or lunch at the market, Maximus/Minimus, Mt. Si Coffee Roasters, Pompeii Woodfired Pizza, Sambusa Wraps and Simply Mediterranean are also slated to be back this season.

I’ve missed Grand Central Bakery at the Issaquah market the last couple of years, so it’s great to see Woodinville’s Proven Bread and Pike Place Market’s Honest Biscuits are joining this year’s market.

The Issaquah Farmers Market runs 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturdays, May 7 – September 24 at Pickering Barn. A full list of Issaquah’s vendors is on the city’s Website.
